    Clean up your skin. Blotches, ash marks, dirt, and acne are not pretty. Aim to shower or bathe every day with a body wash that works for you. Use deodorant to keep your sweat-prone areas fresh. Remember: The best skin you could possibly have is free of acne, well moisturized, protected from UV rays, not greasy, and radiantly bright. So a good cleansing program and oil-free sunscreen is a must.

Whatever you do, remember, patience is a virtue! Be consistent and faithful with treatments. Ask a beautician what skin care routine is best for your complexion and skin type. Miss just one day of treatments and you should start the countdown over again. This may seem drastic but it's the only way to make sure any one type of treatment works for you. Try to use chemicals that won't harm your skin. It takes about 10 days to see the real benefits.

    Maintain good dental hygiene - Brush your teeth after every meal, floss twice daily, and use mouth wash. However, don't brush too hard - you may think it cleans your teeth better, but it's only damaging them. If you want your smile to be fresh all day, keep mint gum or floss on hand.

    • Make sure you don't brush until at least 10 minutes after your meal. Doing otherwise can damage your enamel, which will make it painful to chew sugary and cold/warm foods.

    Hands and nails say a lot. No one wants to touch someone with dry hands. Use moisturizer on your hands every day to keep them soft. For your nails, keep them in a neat trim and if you are allowed to, paint them.

    Take the time to do it right because sloppy nail polish is not pretty to look at. Use a pretty color but don't overdo the designing.

    Remove unwanted body hair. Wax, shave, or pluck body hair such as bikini line, armpit hair, leg hair, eyebrow hair and other visibly hairy parts. This can come back to bite you - once waxed, always waxed - but it is preferable if your body hair is thick and dark.

If you're not sure what hair cut looks good on you, ask your stylist what haircuts suit your face shape [i.e. round, oval, square, heart shaped]. Don't be afraid to get wild with that hair! Go for something different that flatters that beautiful face of yours!

    Take care of your pretty hair. Wash your hair every other day or every 2-4 days, unless you are a victim of dry hair and/or scalp. You can find out whether or not you have dry/oily hair by running your fingers through your hair. If your hair feels even a tiny bit oily or dry, you are due for another hair wash.You want your hair to look clean, healthy, and shiny, not oily and gross or dry and straw-like.

    Make the effort to smile. This will make you feel good about yourself, and make other people feel positive while improving your own mood. Think of something that made you laugh, and you'll have the most charming and pretty smile! Definitely practice smiling in front of the mirror and find out what your most beautiful smile is (a head tilt smile, a teeth smile, a full lip smile, etc.) Then have this smile on for the camera.

    Try your perfumes (if you have them), and see what makes you feel best. Also, you can try scented body lotions, or body splashes. Most women would like to smell refreshing, while others like fruity, or floral scents. Whichever scent type you choose, be sure it doesn't make others sick around you.
    • Spritz yourself once or twice on your wrist (it is not a good idea to rub your wrists together because it can change the scent), and then spritz your elbows and neck. That creates a hint of scent, which is sexy.
    • You can also spray perfume on your hair brush before brushing it through your hair to give it a nice scent. Don't worry, the tiny amount of alcohol contained in perfume is not going to damage your hair!

    Exercise. A big part of looking great involves feeling good about yourself and staying healthy. Try to exercise for at least a half hour every day, and drink 8 glasses of water daily. The water helps you get a nice glow in your skin and makes your complexion much clearer.

    Get enough sleep. This will help you to always look your best. Regular sleeping patterns help your body to effectively regenerate and feel great the next day! More sleep equals a more awakened, energized person. If you don't have time to sleep in during the morning, avoid sleeping on your face, this will cause wrinkles and more grease, which probably means a longer facial care system.

    Buy clothing that flatters you. Black clothes are slimming, as are vertical stripes. If it doesn't flatter your body type, don't wear shirts that are too low, or shirts or skirts too short. Ask people at your favorite clothing store to help you find clothing that is flattering to your figure.

    • No one has a perfect body. Look in the mirror. What are your flaws? Find ways to enhance them or, if enhancing is not possible, then try to cover it or draw the attention away from the flaw. For instance, if you have "thunder thighs" then don't wear tight pants. Try for a loose knee length skirt or wear a flattering top that will keep the eye trained on your top and not your legs. If you have "love handles" then don't wear a tight top. Do something with your pants or face to draw the attention away from your belly.

    Makeup was made to enhance your natural features, not cover them. One of the biggest mistakes you can make is to wear too much makeup, as you end up looking a bit fake. Eyeliner adds definition to your eyes. Choose a natural and subtle shade, like brown,or a color close to your skin color, to create a strictly neutral look. If you want your neutral look to be a bit bolder, try adding a thin line of black eyeliner. If you really need eyeshadow, which brightens up your eyes, make it natural and light. Try making it a champagne or brown color for that natural look. Mascara really opens up your eyes and makes your lashes super pretty. Also, add some clear lip gloss to enhance your lips. Don't wear shocking colors during the day. Stay pretty natural during the day and play it up during the night. If you have pimples or other face irritation, use an acne formula that won't dry out your skin. If your parents don't let you wear makeup, then you are probably really pretty without it.

    If you are unhappy with your face in general, try these makeup tips:
    • Use a bronzer. Contour your face from the temples, to under the cheekbones, to the chin (think of the number 3 when applying). This can make your face more slim and flattering. Also, if you have a wide forehead, or a larger nose, run the brush down the center of your face to diminish them. Play around with bronzer, but don't contour too much or it'll look like you had lots of plastic surgery.
    • Use blush. There are many ways to apply this, including to the apples of your cheeks or onto your cheekbones. Blush can help widen (apply in a horizontal line) or lengthen (apply also to temples & jaw) your face.
    • Highlight. There are many types of makeup you can use to draw attention to (i.e. white eyeshadow, light powder) the places where you want others to look at when they first see you. Some places include the forehead, cupid's bow, the brow bones, and cheekbones. You can also put some on your eyes or nose, if you think they're cute.

    Flatter a 'blah' outfit with accessories. Try a headband, colorful belt or a cute necklace, but don't over-accessorize! Follow Coco Chanel's famous advice to take off one accessory before you go out the door.

    Believe you are beautiful! If you don't think it, no one else will. Simply look in the mirror and say, "I am beautiful." Although you may not think so, everyone is beautiful in their own way. You can look the part by smiling. That is the easiest way to be pretty. Remember - Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

    If your friends give you positive compliments, don't try to change them into negative ones. Many women have this annoying attribute, and it does not make them any prettier. Instead, accept the compliments and use them to make you feel even better. Expressing a modest "thank you" is much healthier than putting yourself down.

    Understand the value of inner beauty. There are "pretty" people in this world, but beauty is uncommon. A bad attitude makes the difference. Being horrible towards others will make you really ugly because make people stop paying attention to your looks. Beauty is from the inside -- the more anger and stress you have on the inside the more it will show on your face.

    • With that in mind, remember that all the makeup in the world won't help if you are unhappy and negative towards others.

    Body language says a lot! Stand up straight. Let others know that you respect yourself, and they will follow your lead. Plus, it has the visual effect of smoothing out any bulges that aren't particularly flattering. Posture is important and can make you look more attractive. Standing or sitting slumped burns fewer calories then sitting or standing up straight.

    Love yourself, love others and you will feel and look great. People are attracted to and feel comfortable with those who respect themselves, and have no problem complimenting others. Liking yourself and respecting yourself doesn't mean you are conceited, it just shows others that you are happy about your appearance.

  • To make your lips soft and smooth try scrubbing your lips with your tooth brush and a bit of toothpaste. Afterwards you can apply your favorite lip balm to keep them hydrated!
  • Be yourself! Get over jealousy and comparisons to others.
  • Don't always straighten your hair or curl because it can damage your hair.
  • Always wash your hair. Keep it shiny and healthy-looking. Make sure to use conditioners and anti-frizz serums if you have frizz-prone hair. If you don't want or don't have time to shower in the mornings, shower the night before and do the styling in the morning. This way, you might still have time to take a quick shower with a shower cap (so you don't have to wash your hair).
  • Never pick at pimples. That will only leave scarring that is harder to get rid of. Just put a hot towel on your face/exfoliate.
  • For great shoulders or bone structure, you can wear shirts that show off these features, such as the sweetheart neckline.
  • Don't take insults personal. If someone tries to put you down, just ignore them. Confidence is key. Even if people say something negative about your appearance, there's good chance they're just saying it to discourage you.
  • Never let your friends or family change you. This is your life in your body, and you are free to do whatever you want.
  • If you have features such as glasses or braces, don't sweat it! Braces come off eventually and you'll have a great looking smile and glasses come in all different designs and colors, just make sure you pick one you like.
  • Get your eyebrows shaped! It can make your face look prettier if done right.
