How to Keep Your Nails Healthy

    Take off your nail varnish. Take off any nail varnish your wearing or some that has been left from last time. If you want to keep your nails healthy, you have to let them breath for a bit. So avoid nail varnish. Sometimes people put layers of nail varnish on top of another colour which is extremely bad for your nails! Your nails aren't going to have that air they need and their freedom because if you keep painting your nails, your nails are going to turn a yellowy colour, this makes it look unattractive and unhealthy. So clear off all your nail varnish on your nails and bacteria! Never ever use an acetone-based or formaldehyde-based nail-polish remover. Rather, stick to a remover that has acetate in it.

    Cut your nails. If you want long nails by cutting them isn't going to stop them from growing. Cutting your nails makes them grow faster and healthier so it's better if you cut your nails of, but make sure you don't cut your nail right down to your skin. keep it a medium size length.

    Give your nails a shape. So you've finished clearing off all the nail varnish and cut your nails. now it's time to file your nails. Filing your nails is a good thing because it gives your nails an even shape rather than having an uneven shape that looks wrong and unhealthy. Filing your nails is also going to stop your nails look thin if you want your nails shaped, hard and healthy file them. While filing your nails, make sure to go in one direction only. Do not move the filer in a back-and-forth motion, as it makes your nails brittle.Do not file you nails just after you have had a shower or have washed your hands. This is because wet nails tend to break easily.

    Wash your hands regularly. You should always wash your hands with either soap, or hand wash it's good for your nails, especially after eating food can always get stuck into the nails which is extremely horrible and frustrating. By washing your hands you can wash off all the bacteria off your nails.

    Give your nails a little treatment. After doing your filing and cutting you should give your nails a little treatment. So if you have cuticle oil you should put that right round your cuticle. If you haven't got cuticle oil you should use Vaseline or petroleum jelly or you could just use normal hand cream. Put any of these products right round your nail do that until it absorbs into the skin.

    Quit the tempting habits and move on. If your really tempted to bite your nails you have to stop. If you want healthy looking nails keep your hands away from your mouth and just wait for a week or so without biting your nails and you will see a big difference. If it's a very strong habit just sit on your hands! It may sound silly but it's a good way of stopping your hands going into your mouth.

    Moisturise your hands and nails. You should moisturise before going to sleep and in the morning. It keeps your nails hydrated and leaves your cuticles looking soft. you can use body lotion, hand cream, nail cream and Vaseline.

    If your nails are too brittle and dry: you should increase the consumption of food that items rich in vitamin A (such as apricots, broccoli, carrot and cheese) and calcium (such as milk, yoghurt, cheese and almonds).Drink plenty of water and fresh fruit juices. It will help keep your body, and in turn your nails, well hydrated. Carrot juice is rich in calcium and phosphorus and helps strengthen your nails. So, try to consume as much fresh carrot juice as is possible for you.
